Nov. 8

Schoolcraft College 106

The Jets men's basketball team dropped an early season, non-conference game Wednesday, Nov. 8 at Schoolcraft College, 85-106.

Statistics tell the story. The Jets shot only 41.8 percent in field goal from the floor, while Schoolcraft hit 52.2 percent. The Ocelets out-rebounded the Jets 49-33, while on rebounds, they were 50 percent to the Jets 48 percent.

For the Jets, Jagger Surface, guard/forward, came off the bench and led the team in scoring with 20 points on the game. Starting point guard Devaughn Munson scored 12, and starting guard Dorian Watson scored 11. Watson, along with guard/forward Kayron Rodgers, led the Jets with 5 rebounds each.

Community College of Beaver County 75

The Jackson College Jets men's basketball team put a win in the books again Community College of Beaver County, 90-75, in the TJ Memorial Tournament Friday held at Lakeland Community College, Ohio.

Jets players edged out their opponents in both field goal percentage, 50.8 to 45.3 percent, and three-point percentage, 51.7 to 38.1 percent. The Jets were outstanding on the line, hitting 64.3 percent of their free throws. Guard/forward Jagger Surface led the Jets in scoring with 21 points and 8 rebounds. Point guard Devaughn Munson scored 13 points, guard Brandon Thomas scored 12, and guard/forward Kayron Rodgers scored 11 points. Coming off the bench, guard/forward Jermayne Golidy scored 16 points.

Lakeland Community College 58

 

The Jackson College Jets came out on top over Lakeland Community college in the TJ Memorial Tournament Final Saturday, 94-58.

The Jets outscored Lakeland all around and were especially aggressive on the boards, nabbing 62 rebounds to Lakeland's 35. Point guard Devaughn Munson was high scorer for the game, with 16 points, following by guard/forward Michael Bruce with 15 points and 11 rebounds, and guard Brandon Thomas with 14 points. Guard/forward Jermayne Golidy added 11 points off the bench.

Devaughn Munson was named most valuable player for Jackson while teammates Jermayne Golidy and Brandon Thomas each earn all-tournament nods.

The Jets are now 3-1 on the season.
