Jackson College signs players for 19-20 season

Women's basketball welcomes Alexis Thompson, a forward/guard for the Detroit East English Village Academy Bulldogs who graduates this year.

"I chose Jackson because when I visited, everybody welcome me with open arms," she said. "I like the environment that I will be in."

"We look forward to having Alexis on the team. She is an athletic player who will fit right into our program," said coach Heather Brown.


Men's bowling welcomes Collin Baldwin, a 2019 graduate of Napoleon High who played for the Napoleon Pirates under coach Randy Chesney.

In addition to his academic honors of being part of the National Honor Society, Baldwin was named Second Team All-State and All Conference for 2017-18. He is excited about the opportunity to continue bowling in college while staying around his hometown.

"Collin is a huge get for us," said coach Corey Daniels. "He has consistently been a top 5 bowler in Jackson for two years, and was an all-state athlete last year. He has a ton of knowledge and experience and will help this program from day 1."


Women's bowling welcomes Allison Fagan, a 2019 graduate of Michigan Center High who played for the Michigan Center Cardinals under coach Hannah Schoonover.

Fagan is part of the National Honor Society and Big Brothers/Big Sisters. She is excited about attending Jackson College to continue bowling while staying close to home and friends.

"We are very excited to add Allie to our program," coach Corey Daniels said. "She's a tremendous learner and student of the game. She has a high ceiling and I'm excited to try to reach that with her."


Softball welcomes Maebel Robeson for the coming year. Robeson is a 2019 graduate of Dexter High School, where she was involved in the SNAP Club – Students Need Accepting Peers.

She has played varsity softball all four years at Dexter and been involved in travel teams since 10U. she liked Jackson College because she found everyone to be nice and, after touring campus, "it felt like home."

Robeson has been involved in fundraising for Mott's Kids of Mott's Children's Hospital. She hopes to go into the medical field.


Women's bowling welcomes Marissa Wood, a 2019 graduate of Charlotte High School who played for the Orioles under coach Pat Landry.

In high school, she has been a member of the National Honor Society and one of the top 25 in her class, with a grade point average of 3.95. She has been Academic All State all four years and Academic All Conference.

She is a four-year varsity bowler, twice was a Lansing State Journal Bowler of the Year finalist and LSJ Dream Team two years in a row. She was named to the All-Conference Team and MVP in 2018; CAAC semifinalist two years in a row; assisted her team to become regional champs in 2017 and 2019, and second in regionals in 2016 and 2018. Her high game is 276 and high series is 682.

Wood chose Jackson College because she is excited by the opportunity to continue bowling while she continues her education toward a social work degree.

"We are very excited to add Marissa to our program. She represents what we value as a student and an athlete," said coach Corey Daniels. "Marissa is a huge addition for us who will be making an immediate impact. We're excited to see her ceiling here at Jackson College."


Men's basketball welcomes Savion Gray to next year's team. Gray is a 2019 graduate of Taylor High School who played for the Griffins.

Gray was the No. 1 player in the Downriver area, averaging 18.7 points, 6 assists and 3 steals per game. He was also Most Athletic Player and Most Valuable Player during his junior year. He chose Jackson College because he liked the peaceful and comfortable environment, a contrast to the Taylor environment.


Women's bowling welcomes Alexis Rudd to next year's team. She is a 2019 graduate of East Jackson High who played for the Trojans with coach Sam Gollakner.

Rudd was second at Bowling States for her Division 4 team. She looks forward to attending Jackson College to bowl and because it has some programs that she has been looking into. "I chose Jackson College because it is close to home, and it also seems to be a great place for me," she said.

"We're excited for the addition of Lexy to our women's program. She's our final puzzle piece to our team and will help us in our goal to reach Buffalo, NY," said coach Corey Daniels. "She has a very high ceiling and we're excited to watch her reach it and hopefully shatter our expectations."


Women's bowling welcomes Lailah Maull to next year's team. Maull is a 2019 graduate of East Jackson High who played for the Trojans with coach Sam Gollakner.

In addition to her academic honors of National Honor Society, Academic All Conference and Academic All State, Maull was second at Bowling States for her Division 4 team. She looks forward to beginning her college career at Jackson College. "I love the people here as well as the opportunity to continue bowling," she said.

"Lailah comes to Jackson as a great addition. We're ecstatic to add her and her abilities. She will fight for my top position and her ability to make clutch shots will be great for our program," said coach Corey Daniels. "We can't wait to watch her grow and excel as a Jet."
