The Jayhawk Baseball team lost a tight non-conference contest to the Jackson College Jets by a final score of 7-6.
Jackson got on the score board early with 4 runs in the top of the 1st inning. MCC answered with 2 runs in the bottom half of the inning and 1 run in the bottom of the 3rd inning, then neither team would cross the plate again until the Jayhawks tied the game with a run in the bottom of the 7th. Jackson answered with 3 additional runs in the top of the 8th inning. The Jayhawks had a chance in the bottom of the 9th inning when they scored on a Drew Markley (Hastings) walk and a Bryce Lesher (St. Joe) home run, but the rally fell just short. Cole Olson (Central Montcalm) led the Jayhawk attack, going 3-4 with 2 RBI. Mason Brunworth (Mona Shores), Lesher and Abdiel Gonzalez (Lake Orion) all picked up 2 hits.
MCC is 10-0 in the Northern Conference and 16-19 overall. They travel to Mt. Pleasant to face Mid Michigan in a key conference series at Shepherd High School starting Friday, 4/14 at 2:00 pm.
