Jets runners heading to nationals

Four Jackson College cross country runners are on their way to nationals following the MCCAA regional championship this past weekend.

Women's runner Sarah Hanson, sophomore from Vandercook Lake, placed 12th overall out of 58 runners participating in the MCCAA Regional Championship, with a time of 20:33.8 in the 5K. Haley Wilkes, freshman from Addison, was the second runner for the women's team with a time of 22:22.3, 29th place; she will also go to nationals. Hanson placed in the top 10 at every conference meet this season, and Wilkes has placed in the top 20. The women's team took sixth place out of 18, with runners Madison Dunlap, sophomore from Napoleon, 23:20.8 for 37th place; Audrey Warriner, freshman from Jackson, 24:16.7 for 41st place; and Sydney Boulter, freshman from Jackson, 35:12.7 for 56th place.

For the men, Bobby Hurley, freshman from Burlington, placed 40th overall with a time of 30:26.7 in the 8K, 40th out of 60 runners overall. Ja'Corey Dorsey, freshman from Flint, was the second runner for the Jets men with a time of 31:00.6, 46th place overall. Both will advance to nationals. Also running for the men was Tyler Muckel with a time of 32:07.4 for 48th place. There was no overall team score for the men.

The NJCAA Division I Men's and Women's Cross Country Championship are set for Nov. 10 in Garden City, Kansas.
