Jets softball goes 5-1 for weekend, 2nd in conference with week left in regular season

Jackson College's Jets softball team scored a winning weekend, going 5-1 in three days of action.

On Friday, the Jets swept the Lansing Community College Stars 3-2 and 7-3. Pitcher Emily Breslin earned the wins on the mound vs. LCC, bringing her conference record to 11-4. Breslin currently leads the conference in strikeouts with 131 and is eighth in the nation.

On Saturday, the Jets swept the Glen Oaks CC Vikings 10-2 and 13-5. On Sunday, the Jets split with Kalamazoo Valley CC Cougars, dropping the first game, 4-6 but rallying back for second game with a close 12-11 victory. Sophomore Lexi Hill earned both her first and second wins from the mound against Glen Oaks and Kalamazoo Valley. 

The Jets had eight homeruns over the weekend – Jessica Kane (2), Kaitlyn Schaub (2), Ashlyn Parker (1 grand slam), Bobbie Freese (1), Emily Breslin (1), and Sydney Medina (1). Addison Hudson led the weekend at the plate with nine hits and five stolen bases. Hudson currently has 30 stolen bases on the year, which is top in the conference and eighth in the nation.

The Jets will wrap up MCCAA Western Conference play this week with games Wednesday and Saturday. They are currently 21-9 in the MCCAA, and 25-11 overall.
