Women's Soccer Season Preview

Women's soccer Coach Andrew Hosmer begins his 15th season with the Jets in 2023. Coaching at a community college, he is used to the flux in players from one season to the next, and this year looks promising already in the preseason.

The Jets lost two-time all-region/all-conference and leading scorer Anna Hosmer (Clark Lake, Columbia Central High), along with three other all-conference/all-region players, Anna Reynolds (Jackson, Michigan Center High), Ella Moore (Jackson, Jackson High), and Leah Postema (Grand Rapids, Jenison High). Several key players are returning on defense to help keep opponents off the scoreboard: Tina Covic (Haslett, Haslett High), Macie Mullins (Brooklyn, Columbia Central High), and Lauren Wilson (Highland, Ind., Highland High). In the midfield, the Jets will look to Olivia Savage (Meadville, Pa., Meadville High), Allie Tate (Jackson, Western High), and Abbi Johns (Wooster, Ohio, Northwestern High) to be the spine of the team.

Newcomers to the team include Alyssa Stewart (Brooklyn, Columbia Central High) who was recently named Jackson Area Player of the Year and will bolster offense along with Jessa Davis (Dowagiac, Dowagiac High) who brings a strong scoring presence as well. Along with her are Franny Parks (Mishawaka, Mishawaka High) who scored over one hundred career high school goals and led her area in scoring as well. The team also expects great leadership in our goalkeeper Katie Gasper (Paw Paw, Paw Paw High), and another strong defensive player, Madison Polzin (Birch Run, Birch Run High).

"The collection of talent is unquestioned; putting it all together properly is always the key," Coach Hosmer said. "In our preseason thus far, we have looked athletic, and the girls have worked hard and are coming together very well. I expect some good success this year."
